Sidewalks along Shattuck Ave. in North Berkeley are the target of artists young and old, professional and greenhorn during the 23rd CHOCOLATE & CHALK ART FESTIVAL, Saturday, August 13, 10AM-5PM.
MAKE ART! With no fees to artists, areas of sidewalk are assigned for you to create your own chalk drawings. The theme for this year is 'Chalking Beautiful Music'. Families or groups may work together, artists may work alone, but everyone comes away with a sense of pride in their work for all to see. Register in person on Saturday, August 13 at the event booths at Shattuck & Vine or Shattuck & Cedar where a box of colorful artist's chalk is available for $10 cash for a box of 24 or $20 for a box of 48.
CHALK ART CONTEST for the best drawing will be judged after 4PM. Top three winners will receive cash prizes ($150/$100/$50). Ten runners up get a $25 gift certificate from Books, Inc. Winners will be notified by Wednesday after the event. See prior winners at https://www.anotherbullwinkelshow.com/chalk-art-2021/
EAT CHOCOLATE! Buy tasting tickets from the event booths at 1451, 1495 or 1607 Shattuck Ave. on the day of the event or in advance on EventBrite. Tickets are $1/ea. or 20/$20. Use them in the businesses listed for items on the Chocolate Menu. Items may be substituted. All items are sold 'to-go' only.
RAFFLE! Drop your leftover tickets in the raffle jars at any ticket booth. (Sorry, no refunds.) Print your email on the back. Raffle prizes include items from local businesses. Prizes will be mailed after the event.
