Wild Africa’s Oyster Fest Trail – shucking good fun

June’s trail run takes us back to one of our favourites, Glen Afric Country Lodge. A magnificent playground of 720 hectares with endless trails across the valley & spectacular wildlife including the magnificent elephants. Participants will receive a unique oyster shooter at the finish line with a branded shooter glass as your medal, followed by an optional oyster feast alongside none other than The Oyster Lady (see details below). This venue really lends itself to a spectacular day out in the country overlooking the Magalies escarpment.

Alongside some Moorish oyster tastings, there will be a hearty buffet breakfast option available at Glen Afric Lodge for those who wish to enjoy a relaxed morning in the country & watch the elephants come by on their morning walk.

Timings will be available and emailed to all runners for Discovery Vitality points. You'll note that walking is allowed on the 6km route and due to the precious time with our game rangers, the cut off time is 2h30.

Route – Wild Africa Experiences have rated the route a 3/5 (5 been the most difficult). Water points will be available at several points on the run.

For anyone wishing to spend an evening or making a weekend of it, we do have special accommodation rates on offer at Glen Afric for Wild Africa Experiences runners. Any enquiries please contact

Best regards

From The Oyster Lady herself : Our oysters are grown on our West Coast, in the beautifully nutrient rich and ice cold waters of the inner bay of Saldanha Bay. We fly our oysters from CT International to Lanseria International Airport, to strictly keep the integrity of a short and very cold chain, enabling us to serve straight from farm to table, ensuring supreme freshness & enjoyment. We literally bring the Cape Town ocean to Jozi and our focus is strongly around an experiential feast!
