Tacoma Method, a bold new work by American composer Gregory Youtz and Chinese American Poet Zhang Er, detailing the true story of the 1885 violent expulsion of Chinese Americans from the city of Tacoma. Tacoma's mayor and prominent citizens decided they had a “Chinese Problem.” On November 3, 1885, they chose to forcibly expel their Chinese community at gunpoint, terming that action the “Tacoma Method” of creating a white city in what was then Washington Territory. This critical and groundbreaking opera boasts an all-star international cast.
