Ashtanga Yoga is a classical form of yoga consisting of six series, each with a set sequence of poses and breaths (Primary, Intermediate and Four Advanced Series). Rocket Yoga, created by Larry Schultz, is a combination of Ashtanga's Primary, Intermediate and Advanced Series and is also traditionally practiced as three specifically sequences series (Rocket 1, Rocket 2 and Rocket 3). This class is an improv vinyasa class, drawing on the sequencing from the traditional Ashtanga and Rocket Series, with variation and a few surprises thrown in. This class applies the same technical principles and practices as both Ashtanga and Rocket including asanas (poses), breath, bandhas, and drishti. The structure consists of a warm up, standing asana, seated asana, ending with the finishing sequence. Expect an energetic and athletic experience, with optional advanced transitions, inversions and arm balances sprinkled throughout. There's plenty to explore, so please arrive with curiosity, a desire to tune in, and get ready to blast off.
Note: This class is open to all levels, but please be aware that if you are looking for a restorative or mellow class, this class will not meet your expectations.
