Join us on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. for an Opening Reception celebrating our new exhibition The West as Home. Be one of the first to visit our new exhibition, featuring over 100 works of art, including recent acquisitions and works on view for the first time. The exhibition also introduces the work of artist Linda Lomahaftewa (Hopi/Choctaw) and The Couse-Sharp Historic Site in Taos, NM through video installations. Enjoy live music by David Gonzalez and friends, free sangria from Free State Cellars, delicious passed appetizers from The Garden District, and special sweets from ABC Treat Shoppe during this after-hours event.
Admission to this event is FREE through the generous support of the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation.
The West as Home is on view at the Stark Museum of Art beginning July 23, 2021 through January 22, 2022. The exhibition includes sections on land, shelter, interior space, and family and addresses how artists interpret their ideas of home. Reflecting on what the concept has meant for others can help us to refine what home means to us today.
