Cozy up with your valentine or loved ones and enjoy the most beautiful objects in the winter sky: the stars. Join Sara Poirier for an evening of stargazing discovering winter constellations and hearing romantic star stories that have been passed down through the ages.

 

The Norman Bird Sanctuary will provide seating, blankets, and refreshments to ensure a relaxing and comfortable evening.

 

Listen to stories of star-crossed love and legend while observing the planet Mars, star clusters, and the Orion nebula through telescopes.

 

About the speaker:

Sara Poirier is the founder of Spark Strategic Science Communication. Before moving to Middletown, she worked as the staff astronomer at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto. Her responsibilities included developing exhibits and programs and producing shows for the center’s planetarium. She worked extensively in educational television, where her shows included “When I Grow Up!” and “Ask Sara.” In 2011, she was recognized as a Telus Innovator by the Canadian Association of Science Centres for her work. Sara has a BSc. In Astrophysics and MSc. In Science Communication and Public Engagement.
