RUACH is excited to present A Journey through Jewish Music with the Amernet String Quartet and clarinetist Jesse McCandless, a virtual concert featuring Jewish-related works and compositions from the past 150 years, beginning Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
As a bonus, also included is the pre-recorded Q&A session on “The Future of Classical Music,” with Sarah Dinin of Dinin Arts Management & Consulting, LLC, which was recorded live on January 30, 2022. The video features an engaging and informative interview that probes the history and modern-day relevance of classical music, and explores the relationship between music and Judaism.
Both videos will be available on-demand from Wednesday, May 10 at 5:00 p.m. through Wednesday, May 31 at 5:00 p.m.
This 83-minute special concert, with special introductory remarks before each piece, includes works by Schulhoff, Gershwin, and Krein, and features Osvaldo Golijov’s The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind. The program, also featuring clarinetist Jesse McCandless, a fellow with the New World Symphony, highlights the connections between the European Jewish experience with that of the Americas.
