Art and creativity serve as powerful tools for survival in times of adversity. This interactive tour explores the stories of several Jewish artists and photographers during the Holocaust who have been featured in past CJM exhibitions, highlighting how varied artistic practices served as forms of Jewish resistance.
Explore the stories of the photographer Roman Vishniac, artists Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore, and the remarkable story of puppeteers, Mike and Frances Oznowicz from CJM’s 2022 exhibition Oz is for Oznowicz: A Puppet Family’s History.
Learn about the Holocaust through art and personal narratives, and make contemporary connections to fighting antisemitism and hate today.

ABOUT OUR TOUR GUIDE
Ron Glait, is the Adult Learning Program Manager and the Museum Technology Manager, at The Contemporary Jewish Museum, where he shares his love of art and deep knowledge of Jewish culture and history with visitors of all ages and walks of life, through developing and leading education programs, tours and presentations of the Museum’s exhibitions.
Born and raised in Israel, Ron moved to the US in the summer of 2017, after completing his Master of Education at The Kibbutzim College of Education in Tel-Aviv, where he specialized in Visual Literacy and Museum Studies. His academic research around the Holocaust and Collective Memory was inspired by his familial story. As a third generation of Holocaust Survivors, Ron examined the connections between the visual representation of the Holocaust in Israel, and the development of a personal memory of the Holocaust in relation to the collective memory.
