Pioneers of unique virtual reality experiences, contemporary artist Jess Johnson and director Simon Ward bring you TERMINUS, an immersive experience like no other.
The structures of TERMINUS are five custom-built VR stations that open a world of 3D virtual reality. Each station operates as a portal, to explore a mysterious universe of alien architecture populated by humanoid clones and cryptic symbols, traversed via a network of travellators and gateways.
The TERMINUS virtual reality experiences draw their imagery from the world that Jess Johnson has developed in her drawing practice, and video artist Simon Ward translates these drawings into 3D animations and virtual environments. Developer Kenny Smith has enriched the experiences and sound is by composer Andrew Clarke.
TERMINUS is a free exhibition. Allow up to 30 minutes for your adventure. As each experience is individual you may find there is a short wait before you can begin your quest. You can take this time to explore TERMINUS’ immersive environment.
Johnson and Ward are internationally known and have exhibited in Hong Kong, Edinburgh, Montreal, Tokyo, and New York. This is the last time TERMINUS will be exhibited in New Zealand, come and enter another world with us!
