All the way from the Avignon Fringe in France, we are delighted to host the award-winning performance Flamencodanza at Tūhura Otago Museum.
Flamencodanza was created five years ago and is an inspired show of flamenco dance and guitar by Aylin Bayaz and Raul Mannola. Elements of flamenco, Brazilian music, and jazz combine to make a moving performance of a type seldom seen here in New Zealand. Flamencodanza has won multiple awards, and most recently won the audience prize at the 2022 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
The dancing is based on contemporary flamenco, and Bayaz's performance speaks to both strength and elegance. She is accompanied by the talented Mannola, who has decades of experience as a professional guitarist, and an extensive discography of traditional flamenco and jazz fusion.
