Photography: Getting Started
By Dunedin WEA

This 6 week course with tutor Paul Donovan is for beginners or those taking up photography as a hobby. It will focus on extending your photographic skills, inclusive of people, plants and flowers, landscapes and more.

Please note: there will be no class on Anzac Day, Tuesday 25 April.

Suited to those who want to explore the exciting world of the amateur photographer, any digital camera is acceptable, and if your only camera is your phone, you will still be welcome! (Unfortunately, good old film cameras won’t be suitable due for this course).

The focus will be on techniques, toys, tricks, and lighting that will extend your skills and creativity. Each week we will cover a technical aspect of photography, examine the work of a renowned photographer, learn a new technique and set a task for the following week.

If the class is full but you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email Nicola at dunedinwea@gmail.com or add yourself to the waiting list here on BookWhen.

This course is kindly funded by COGS, Lottery Community and the Otago Community Trust.

Please don’t forget your camera - charged up and with a memory card if it needs one. Any other materials needed will be provided.

All students agree to comply with DWEA terms and conditions, and to comply with any SDCN Covid policies if these are required at the time of this class.

The cost is $80 for the 6 week course. Please note that this is due at least 7 days before the start date of your class. This is payable by credit card via Paypal or internet banking. If you are enrolling less than 7 days before the class starts, please pay immediately.

If you have a Community Services Card, the fee is reduced by 50% to $40. In this case, please email your name, address and phone number to dunedinwea@gmail.com stating which course you want to enrol in, including a photo or scan of your Community Services Card. We will enrol you and you can then pay the discounted price by internet banking.
