This is an introduction to the Italian language and culture taught in an enjoyable and communicative way. No previous knowledge of Italian is required, and students are typically able to understand, speak and write simple text in a few weeks. The instructor is Antonella Vecchiato, a native speaker of Italian born and raised in Venice. She is a trained linguist (PhD in Linguistics, University of Southern California) and has over 20 years of teaching experience from beginners to advanced courses in universities (USC, Otago), community (Adult Community Education programmes at Loghan Park and Bayfiled High Schools) and private classes. Antonella is also one of the founders and the curret chair of La Piccola Italia, the Italian community group in Dunedin, and is passionate about introducing the Itailian language and culture to Dunedin.
