“GEORGETOWN 2016 ARTWALK” LAUNCHES ON MAY 7 -‐ 8 Free Public Event on Mother’s Day Weekend Will Celebrate the CreaPve Arts with Art Exhibits, Concerts, and Kid’s Programs
Georgetown, SC, April 6, 2016 – The first “Georgetown 2016 ARTWALK” will present displays of juried artwork in storefronts along Front Street in the Historic District of Georgetown; a wide variety of art exhibitors in Georgetown parks, showing painLng, photography, prints, sculpture, glass, jewelry, book and fiber art, metal and woodwork, and more; and a selecLon of painLngs from The Franklin G. Burroughs-‐Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum of Myrtle Beach, on view at the Cultural Council of Georgetown County, 922 Front Street.
There will also be an art exhibit of works by Georgetown County students at the Winyah Auditorium; Kid’s Art programs in the Kaminski House Museum Courtyard; and concerts throughout the weekend in Francis Marion Park, including performances by the Young Treasures, talented musicians sponsored by the Cultural Council of Georgetown County.
The weekend’s events will begin on Friday, May 6th from 5 – 7 p.m., with an art crawl to view the juried art in windows along Front Street, and a welcome recepLon for parLcipaLng arLsts and the public at the Cultural Council of Georgetown County, 922 Front Street.
On Saturday, May 7th, from 10:00 a.m. unPl 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, May 8th, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., the “Georgetown 2016 ARTWALK” will be free and open to the public. Visitors may pick up copies of the ARTWALK map from volunteers along Front Street and view the juried art in storefront windows. They may vote for the People’s Choice Award at designated locaLons cited on the ARTWALK map and the Cultural Council of Georgetown County, 922 Front Street.

Children’s Art Exhibit – displays of artwork by students from Georgetown County schools, on view at the Winyah Auditorium, 1200 Highmarket Street
SelecPon of Contemporary Art from the CollecPon of The Franklin G. Burroughs-‐Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum of Myrtle Beach, on view at the Cultural Council of Georgetown County, 922 Front Street
Kid’s Art Programs – children enjoy hands-‐on art projects in the courtyard of the Kaminski House Museum, 1003 Front Street, conducted by Cultural Council and Myrtle Beach Art Museum staff
Concerts – performances by Young Treasures, the Pawleys Island Concert Band, and other musicians will take place under the tent in Francis Marion Park, 801 Front Street
Mother’s Day, May 8th – Families can enjoy viewing the many art exhibits together, brunch or lunch at one of Georgetown’s fine restaurants, and a 2:00 p.m. concert by the Pawleys Island Concert Band in Francis Marion Park, 801 Front Street, which will be followed at 3:00 p.m. by the announcement of the Jurors’ and People’s Choice Awards for participating artists
