Virtual Global Museum Passport - A History of Jews in Ukraine
By Jewish Museum Milwaukee (JMM)

Join Jewish Museum Milwaukee for their Global Museum Passport series. On this day, we'll be guided through the thousand-year history of Jewish presence in Ukraine. This program will shed light on the Jewish history in such influential towns as Mariupol, Kherson, Kiev, Kharkiv. These major cultural epicenters of Ukrainian life are also homes to strong Jewish communities. Unfortunately, these towns have recently made headlines around the world for the bombardment they have experienced from the Russian offensive. In addition, we'll explore the two major 'cradles of Ukrainian Jewish culture'. One in Odesa, a huge port city on the Black Sea in the east of the country, and the other in Galicia, a massive region in the west that includes parts of Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland. The Galician region is where many Wisconsin Jews are from.

At the forefront of our thoughts will be the struggles of all Ukrainian people who have suffered greatly from years of aggression.
