Brad Walker pairs up once again with the criticaly acclaimed Extended Trio: Oscar Rossignoli, Matt Booth and special guest Peter Varnado for an evening performance of their highly anticipated join project Side By Side.
Brad Walker is one of the most active and sought-after saxophonists in the city of New Orleans today. Perhaps best known for his “soaring” (Rolling Stone), “energetic” (NPR), and “tasteful” (Relix) solos on Saturday Night Live, the 2017 Grammy Awards, and The Tonight Show with Nashville mega-star Sturgill Simpson, Walker is a compelling artist in his own right, with six full-length releases under his own name and over a decade of music-making in the Crescent City under his belt.
Extended has developed a singular ensemble sound. This is contemporary piano trio music from a band that knows who it is, where it came from, and where it is headed.
Their latest 2022 release, Without Notice, was awarded a cover story in Offbeat Magazine and nominated by the publication as one of the Best Contemporary Jazz Albums of the year. In 2023, Extended was recognized by the “Big Easy Awards” (Gambit Magazine) as Best Contemporary Jazz Artist. Harbinger (Origin Records), their second full-length, garnered critical acclaim and radio play across the country, and was named by Offbeat as one of the Top 50 Best of Louisiana Music in 2019. Their debut LP from 2017, released on Breakfast 4 Dinner records, received praise for its distinctive compositions and dynamic group interplay.
Extended has toured within the country and continues to play shows that leave audiences invigorated and fulfilled. As the whole world knows, the city of New Orleans knows no shortage of the highest caliber of players in the world, but recently locals have been thrilled to see the development of a new collective - EXTENDED - that has quickly come to find a place among our brightest stars.
