* Please note: this is a 21 and over event.
We will host an evening gathering of love, art, and camaraderie at The Greatroom in Beaverton, Oregon as we unveil the commissioned art pieces inspired by the 10 families who shared their stories with our Give Grief a Voice project this year. We invite you to join us.
The Give Grief a Voice project began in 2019 with Amanda Drews, founder of Buzzy’s Bees, whose own story was the first of its kind. The project provides families who have lost a young child an artistic representation of their child’s life.
The process involves the collaboration of a professional writer and artist. A writer interviews the family in order to ghostwrite the child’s story. Then, a commissioned artist turns the words of the story into a piece of art that the family keeps.
The project’s primary purpose is to help families who have experienced the death of a young child. The secondary goal is to help anyone who reads the stories better support the grieving people in their own lives. Ultimately, the stories will be published alongside the artwork in a book.
Buzzy’s Bees fundraises to cover all costs for writing and art – there is no charge to participating families. Both the writers and artists are paid per story.
