Broadway Master Class
By Sherwood Center for the Arts

Broadway comes to Sherwood!

This workshop is geared towards intermediate and advanced musical theatre and dance students, ages 13 through adult. Broadway performer/dance captain JACK SIPPEL will teach a dance call/dance audition, leading you through some musical theatre choreography. This energetic, positive master class is perfect for those wanting to gain experience and finesse their audition technique—with constructive, real-time feedback from a Broadway pro.

3:00-5:00 pm: Choreography master class and Q & A with Jack Sippel

5:00-6:00 pm: High school and college students may choose to audition for Open Jar Institute during this time. The Institute, located in New York City, provides two unique opportunities for students: an 8-week Residency Program for student integration when first moving to NYC, or a Summer Intensive for both high school and college students. Students wanting to audition should bring sheet music or recorded accompaniment and be prepared to sing 32 bars.

Master Class Instructor: Jack Sippel is a St. Louis native and now resides in New York City. From regional theaters, to touring companies, to Broadway, Jack has had wonderful opportunities to work on groundbreaking new shows. He was just working as the Assistant Choreographer for the original Netflix movie, The Prom, in which he danced, and was an original cast member of Memphis and Disney's Newsies, a cast member in Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical movie (available on Disney +) and has performed with many regional theaters across the country such as The MUNY, Paper Mill Playhouse and Flat Rock Playhouse.

This master class is brought to you by the Friends of the Sherwood Center for the Arts and the Cultural Coalition of Washington County.
